Functional and Regression testing

Functional testing is performed on the entire system in the context of a Functional Requirement Specifications. Functional testing is an investigatory testing phase, where the focus is to have almost a destructive attitude and test not only the design, but also the behavior and even the believed expectations of the customer. It is also intended to test up to and some suggest beyond the bounds defined in the software requirements specifications - although how this is meaningfully possible is undefined.

Functional testing process
Regression testing is any type of software testing which seeks to uncover regression bugs. Regression bugs occur whenever software functionality that previously worked as desired, no longer works in the same way that was previously planned. Typically regression defects occur as an unintended consequence of program changes. Common methods of regression testing include re-running previously run tests and checking whether previously fixed faults have re-emerged.

Your benefits from functional and regression Testing:
  • Your application will function accurately from the end-user perspective.
  • It will work as per specifications across multiple platforms, browsers and technologies.
  • You will be aware of the functional errors and their root causes.
  • Your application will be affected by new enhancements on the existing functionality.
  • The functionality of your application will meet the release requirements.
  • Flawless and error-free functioning of your website or e-shop will attract new customers and retain your current ones.

We use manual and automated methods for Functional and Regression Testing. The Automated testing is necessary when: a project does not have a GUI; a project cannot be completely tested manually within the accepted time frame; a project has a stable interface and needs frequent retesting. This strategy is also applicable for web applications testing.
